THE HEATH BOOKSHOP LITERATURE AND MUSIC FESTIVAL –

We have our own professional musician at The Heath Bookshop – Claire is a French Horn player! She will be performing in this special event combining music, literature and bringing together our adult and children’s programme, with brass quintet, Sennet Brass for a one off performance of Saint Saens’ Carnival of the Animals. This performance will see the quintet joined by children who have created masks and instruments through workshops with How Brave Is The Wren. Together, they will bring to life Michael Morpurgo’s collection of animal poems. This will be an exciting music event for all ages to either come along and watch or participate in!

Trumpets – Steve Lee & Frank Stubbs

Horn – Claire Dawes

Trombone – Chris Hickman

Tuba – Andy Johnson

Percussion – Vicky Lee

Since forming in 2022, Sennet Brass have loved working together, relishing the chance to perform at a high level to audiences around the UK. With each member bringing a wealth of experience to the group, areas such as orchestral performance, music arranging, teaching and event promotion are all covered which leads to exciting and varied performances. As freelance musicians, they have performed with orchestras including the CBSO, Philharmonia, Orchestra of the Swan and Orchestra of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Members can also be found hidden in theatre pits performing in shows, musicals and pantos.

You can attend our Carnival of the Animals workshop at 9:30am on Saturday 18th April for free if you have a ticket to this event! Please see events page for more information.
