The Heath Bookshop
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Rupinder Kaur Waraich will be coming to the shop to talk about her new poetry collection, ‘Tigress With Wings‘, in conversation with Raveena, a DJ and Curator based in Birmingham. This event will be at The Heath Bookshop.
Rupinder Kaur Waraich (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist based in the West Midlands whose work encompasses poetry, writing, performance, and acting, with a focus on feminine narratives. Her practice delves into themes of the body, history, language, sexuality, and spirituality. Her debut poetry collection, Rooh (2018), was published by Verve Poetry Press, and her second collection is forthcoming from Seren Books in 2026. Waraich’s poetry and writing have been featured in a range of magazines and journals.
Tigress With Wings is an intimate, tender, and often laugh-out-loud narrative collection tracing the journey from girlhood to womanhood. It explores mother–daughter relationships, sex, desire, depression/loneliness, and the way women artists can feel like fairy godmothers guiding us forward. The collection is like picking up the phone to your girl-self, to your mother, and to Frida Kahlo, Amrita Sher-Gil, and Amrita Pritam. It’s woven through with Panjabi heritage and traditional folk tales, and ultimately asks what it means to find your own fierceness and learn to fly. Unfolding from the lessons of tragic Panjabi folk heroines to the chaos and curiosity of schoolgirl life, it follows a girl learning to live in her body and discover her own power.
